Our client is a privately owned construction management firm that specializes in private commercial projects in Southern California.
This individual will be involved in the strategic oversight and construction management activities for land and building projects in San Diego.
Responsibilities
- Manage project consultants to ensure timelines, scope and budget are met
- Negotiate and execute contract terms and scope with consultants and contractors
- Provide site planning design and engineering solutions throughout the development process
- Strong understanding of estimating, preconstruction, civil engineering, architecture and structural design for site planning and building construction
- Lead project meetings throughout the project until closeout
- Obtain approvals and permits for projects’ off-site improvements, building shell and tenant improvements
- Develop and maintain construction project timelines, ensuring milestones are met and within budget
- In depth knowledge of commercial construction methods, practices, materials, project specifications and costs
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering (Civil or Structural) is desired, but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role working in the field of land development, civil engineering, architecture, or construction management
- Experience in local multifamily development, project municipal approvals, and construction
- Must be able to read and understand off-site and on-site civil drawings and architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire service, and landscape drawings
- Project management experience from a general contractor and / or owners rep is preferred
- Self-motivated and ability to multi-task and work both independently as well as collaboratively in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Superior organizational, project, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A professional license (engineer, architect, etc.) is desirable but not required
- Promote a positive, can-do attitude with a real focus on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and effectiveness
- Proven track record of increased responsibility and performance across a broad array of areas
- Ability to innovate and be a creative and strategic problem solver
